On the South Island of New Zealand today in the night, 14 November, there was a repeated strong earthquake of magnitude 6.2. The epicenter was located about 120 kilometers north-east of the city Christchurch.

It is reported that repeated earthquake was the most powerful aftershocks of all previously recorded in the country.

Authorities said a breakthrough dam on the Clarence River to the north of the city Kaikora. Locals recommended as soon as possible to evacuate to high ground. Reportedly, the downstream flow of water moves powerful.



November 13 is already far from Christchurch tremors of magnitude 7.8 were recorded. The earthquake killed at least two people, destroyed roads and buildings.
