Adoption of the Electoral Code may resolve the issue of the voting of internally displaced persons in local elections.

This was stated by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andrey Parubiy in the program "Freedom of Speech" on the ICTV channel, Ukrinform reports..

"The recommended Electoral Code refers to a significant amount of issues, and the voting of internally displaced persons in local elections is one of those issues that must be resolved, including when adopting the Electoral Code. Now he is on training. The head of the working group Chernenko said he would do everything possible so that by the beginning of October all amendments could be considered. I guarantee: as soon as there is a decision of the committee, I will immediately put the Electoral Code to the Verkhovna Rada, "said Parubiy.

At the same time, the speaker stressed that this is one of the most ambitious reforms that should resolve a number of issues, including the impossibility of electoral fraud and gender equality of voters.

As reported, Verkhovna Rada Chairman Andriy Parubiy predicts that the deputies will switch to consideration of the Electoral Code in the second reading in October.

According to him, given the large number of amendments to the bill, its consideration may take one or two plenary weeks.

In July, the speaker noted that the whole bill was submitted to 4,500 deputy amendments.

On November 7, 2017, the Verkhovna Rada adopted in the first reading a draft Electoral Code providing for the introduction of a proportional electoral system with open party lists in the elections to the parliament, as well as the change in the electoral system in local elections (No. 3112-1).
