Barcelona and Madrid do not depart from their positions. Parties to the conflict raise rates. The authorities of Catalonia announced the victory of supporters of independence from Spain in the referendum held on October 1. At a turnout of 42 percent, the branch of the most richly Spanish region of Catalonia was supported by 90 percent of those who voted, which is more than twice as high as in 2014. The referendum in Catalonia was held in the face of tough confrontation between the police and the national guard of Spain on the one hand and the supporters of independence on the other. As a result of the collision nearly a thousand people were injured. Madrid declared the elections illegal and announced that the referendum on the independence of Catalonia failed. In turn, Barcelona promises to sue the Spanish central authorities for the violence. Struggle for a vote Two weeks before the referendum, Madrid conducted a special operation with searches and arrests in connection with the preparation of voting. Searches were held at a number of ministers of the Catalan government. The central authorities of Spain sent police officers to Catalonia and national guards to prevent a referendum, since local law enforcement officers refused to follow Madrid's orders, and firefighters even did not do it at all. Voting took place without independent or international observers under the rules, which changed one hour from the opening of polling stations. The authorities of Catalonia allowed wishing to vote to come to any site. To protect against re-voting, electronic lists had to be used, but the server with the database eventually turned off. In the ballot boxes it was possible to omit any ballots - even those printed on a home printer. The results of the referendum in Catalonia according to local authorities: for - 90.

09 percent, against - 7.87 percent, empty bulletins - 2.03 percent, invalid bulletins - 0.89 percent. However, the most obvious result of the vote were several hundred wounded Spaniards. As a result of clashes with the police, 844 people applied for medical help. The nature of injuries is not specified. @guardiacivil se retira expeditivamente bajo una lluvia de piedras lanzadas en grupo # EstamosporTI pic. twitter. com / wQsL5hMsL1- Ministerio Interior (@interiorgob) October 1, 2017.
