Depressive state together with antidepressants causes serious damage to the health of blood vessels, US researchers reported, according to the Internet publication for girls and women from 14 to 35 years old Pannochka. Net Scientists have conducted a study in which they found that depression in itself significantly increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, but the situation is aggravated by antidepressants taken in large quantities to relieve symptoms.

In the experiment, pairs of twins took part, one of the brothers taking antidepressants.

Standard factors of occurrence of cardiovascular diseases were taken into account. It turned out that people taking antidepressants on a regular basis had a 10-micron thickening of the carotid artery a year later, which is an additional risk factor for heart and vascular disease.

Experts advise to try, if possible, to detect signs of depression as early as possible in order to avoid long-term treatment, and, thereby, reduce the negative impact on the health of the cardiovascular system.
