The religious community of the parish of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Irpen at its meeting decided to withdraw from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP) and become part of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU). This was reported by the press service of the University of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, on the territory of which the temple is located..

“This step is important for all of us, especially at this difficult time for Ukraine.. The unification of churches into a single church will spiritually unite the nation, double the strength and faith in our quick victory over the enemy,"

The parishioners, together with the rector, were photographed against the backdrop of the church shelled by the Russian military. Recall that Irpen was occupied for more than a month and after the liberation the world was horrified by the atrocities committed there by the Russian army.

Father Andrei Klyushev, rector of the church, said in an interview with RISU that he could not remember the name of the Moscow Patriarch Kirill after what the Russians had done in Ukraine. He stopped doing this even before the full-scale invasion of Russia, namely after the death of university graduates in the Donbass during the ATO.

“In 2014, the wounded from Donbass began to arrive in Irpin to our hospital, where I built a chapel. I met Ostap Gavrilyak from the Lviv region, a cyborg from the Donetsk airport. He was without a leg. The guy was very fond of football, which has now become a closed topic for him.. This meeting changed my mind.. In addition, university graduates died in the East - I knew some personally. And I stopped commemorating the name of Patriarch Kirill in divine services.

Internal opposition arose. And in the light of recent events, even more so,"

Recall also that the priest of the OCU from the occupied Kherson spoke about the torture that he experienced after the abduction on March 30 by the so-called " Then the Russian infidels broke into the Church of the Most Holy Theotokos, where he has his own parish, checked the documents and messengers of those who had gathered, and took the man with them..
