In the UK, a Polish-born man named Edward Zelinsky kept two compatriots in slavery. It is reported by The Sun. One of the slaves was a man who came to the UK in 2008. Because of his poor command of English and his addiction to alcohol, he owes his cousin Zielinsky 800 euros. He went to Nottingham to work off the money, but there were terrible conditions waiting for him. Zelinsky forced him to work for 20 hours a day, gluing together greeting cards, and getting for it 10 pounds sterling a week.

The man tried to escape twice, but both times the attempts failed. Finally, the third attempt ended in flight. For some time he lived on the street, and then he went to the police, who told about the compatriot-slave owner. During the search in the attic of the house Zelinsky found another man who was in slavery less than a year. Nottingham's royal court sentenced Edward Zielinski to 40 months in prison.
