The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia published the text of the memorandum on the creation of de-escalation zones in Syria, signed in Astana on May 4. On this on Saturday, May 6, according to the website of the department. The text indicates that security zones will be established in the following regions: in the province of Idlib, in the territories of Latakia, Aleppo and Hama; In the north of Homs province; In East Gut; In the south of Syria - the provinces of Deraa and Kuneitra. It is specified that the establishment of such zones is a temporary measure of six months duration with the automatic extension on the basis of consensus of the parties that acted as guarantors of the ceasefire (Russia, Turkey, Iran). According to the document, in these areas located on the line of contact of the forces of government and opposition forces, the fighting should be stopped. There must also be unimpeded access to these areas for humanitarian assistance.

Along the boundaries of de-escalation, security bands are created that will serve to prevent fighting collisions. On May 4, Astana hosted the fourth international meeting on Syria. Representatives of the guarantor countries - Russia, Turkey and Iran - signed a memorandum on the establishment of four security zones in Syria.
