At the end of July, the media reported that from August 1, Russia will stop passing citizens of third countries across the border with the Republic of Belarus. As the newspaper notes, this information "was confirmed, and no" - the border guards confirmed that they received the relevant instructions, but then their implementation was postponed.

According to Alexei Nikiforov, the commander of the FSB frontier service, there was only one category of foreigners allowed to cross the border of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus - these are international drivers. Since October 2016, Russia has ceased to admit all other foreigners following from the territory of Belarus, said the Belarusian partisan.

Another source in the FSB confirmed that the rules changed two years ago. The prohibitions concern not only the citizens of the European Union, but also the states of the Eurasian Economic Union. If earlier this had no effect on the infrastructure, after the end of the World Cup 2018 new checkpoints appeared, including a building for the transport inspection. A continuous check of passports began, and truck drivers will need to show, in addition to an international driver's license, a certificate of professional competence.
