The General Assembly chose countries such as the Netherlands, Poland, Kuwait, Peru, Cote d'Ivoire and Equatorial Guinea.

It is also noted that the Netherlands will be a member of the Security Council for a year, since they share the term of office with Italy, which worked in the organization in 2017.

All other member countries of the Security Council were extended for two years.

By the way, the UN Security Council includes 15 members. Among them - five permanent: China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States, which have the right of veto.

Non-permanent members in the Security Council are now Kazakhstan, Sweden, Bolivia and Ethiopia. December 31, 2017 expired term of office of Ukraine, Egypt, Japan, Senegal, Italy and Uruguay.

As previously reported in URA-Inform, the General Assembly of the United Nations voted against the decision of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, on recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The resolution, which is not binding, was approved by 128 states.
