Earlier it was reported that the Russians fired at one of the districts of Nikolaev with multiple launch rocket systems, while using cluster munitions. This type of air strike was often used in Iraq, Kosovo and Afghanistan, experts characterize them as chaotic in nature and indiscriminate action due to the coverage of a larger area compared to a monobloc munition.
