In Russia on May 4, a law came into effect that prohibits the implementation of money transfers to Ukraine through foreign payment systems.

According to the document, the text of which appeared in the system of legal information of the Russian Federation, in the event that prohibitions are introduced by a foreign state against Russian payment systems whose operators are registered with the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, a cross-border express transfer can only pass through an operator controlled by a Russian legal entity.

Thus, it becomes impossible for a direct express transfer between Russia and the state, which introduced a ban on the Russian payment system.

Western Union has already announced the termination of transfers to Ukraine from the Russian Federation without opening a bank account. It is the opening of an account that can become a loophole for those who still intend to use international systems for transfers to Ukraine from the Russian Federation.

Recall that the law on the prohibition of transfers to Ukraine through foreign systems was approved by the State Duma in March 2017.

In Ukraine, the activities of Russian payment systems Zolotaya Korona, Unistream, Kolibri and others have been banned since October 2016.
