Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine seized in the Volyn region more than a ton of illegally mined amber, the press service of the department.
"During the searches at his place of residence, the security services seized more than a ton of" sun stone ". According to experts, the cost of seized amber at prices of the "black market" is almost two million US dollars, "- said in a statement.
Operatives of the Security Service have established that the organizer of illegal mining of amber was a resident of the city of Vladimir-Volynsky.
Criminal proceedings were opened on this fact.
In August 2016, the National Police announced full control over the "amber mafia". According to the deputy head of the National Police Vadim Troyan, law enforcers completely stop the illegal mining of amber in Rivne and a number of other regions of Ukraine. But already in September the border guards discovered new illegal amber development in the Rivne region.
