Scientists have found out that presidents and heads of government are aging faster than other people and have a high risk of premature death.

In the Christmas edition of the British Medical Journal, you can traditionally see light and interesting articles, one of which is a warning to our permanent leaders.

Dr. Andrew Olenski of the Harvard School of Medicine analyzed the lives of 279 national leaders and 261 less fortunate competitors from 17 democratic countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and Germany. Period - from 1722 to 2015.

Scientists are interested in how many years the politician survived after his last election, comparing these data with the life expectancy of an average person of the same sex and age from the same country and era.

Olensky said that the candidates who were elected heads of state lived on average 2.

7 years less and prematurely died 23% more often than those who took the second place in the elections. This can be perceived as a cruel joke of fate, but the fact remains a fact.

Although the authors did not try to analyze the specific reasons for the death of national leaders, they believe that the tragedy of the powerful are stress and a strained lifestyle that can accelerate aging and lead to the early development of serious diseases.
