Derby County fired executive director and club president Sam Rush for flagrant violation of the rules.

The Champion's Club published on its website a statement in which it was said that Rush was dismissed "on the basis of gross misconduct and violation of fiduciary duty".

The club also added that at this stage they will not give any further comments.

Derby, who appointed Rush in January 2013, currently ranks ninth in the Championship and lost chances to take the place in the playoff zone.

Rush, previously worked in the global sports and entertainment agency Wasserman Media Group, signed a new five-year contract with the sheep in October 2015.
