Even in the first half, four unanswered goals flew into the gates of Georgy Buschan, the only goalkeeper who remained in the position of Andriy Shevchenko. After the break, several substitutions were made and Ukraine played very interestingly, and Tsigankov even got one goal back. Then the Ukrainians had a couple of good chances to score the second goal, but the implementation failed. France seized the initiative again and scored three more goals. As a result, the defeat was 1: 7.
