President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with President of the European Union Charles Michel as part of the G7 summit in Japan. The meeting was announced by the head of state in his Telegram channel. The leaders discussed the implementation of the recommendations of the European Commission to start negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union.

Zelensky also stressed that the interlocutors paid special attention to the issue of export bans related to Ukrainian agricultural products by the EU countries and the inadmissibility of their extension after June 5. During the meeting, the presidents also discussed and coordinated positions on specific ways of implementing the Ukrainian Peace Formula and consolidating global support for this peace initiative.

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky, as part of his visit to Japan and participation in the G7 summit, met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Italian Prime Minister George Meloni.
