In most of the EU countries on May 8, celebrated the Victory Day in World War II in Europe.

In particular, in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, a solemn ceremony was held at the National Monument on the Witkova Hill with the participation of Prime Minister Boguslav Sobotka. Politicians and soldiers laid wreaths and flowers at the monument, reports Euronews..

And in Warsaw, Polish Defense Minister Anthony Makherevich and the veterans gathered at the grave of an unknown soldier in Pilsudski Square in Warsaw. The victory day in Poland was postponed from 9 to 8 May only 2 years ago.

Most countries of the so-called "socialist bloc" up to the end of the 1980s celebrated the Victory Day as in the USSR, on May 9.
