Crimean activist Kostenko was released

Condemned in Russia, a citizen of Ukraine, Alexander Kostenko was released from the correctional colony in g. Kirovo-Chepetsk (Kirov region, Russia), he is currently traveling with the Ukrainian consul to Moscow, to the Ukrainian Embassy, ??said Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova.

"Alexandra Kostenko, who was serving a sentence in Russia in Kirovo-Chepetsk of the Kirov region, was released today. (...) Now he is already under the protection of the Ukrainian government. Alexander is with the consul of Ukraine, and they are sent to Moscow to the Ukrainian Embassy in Russia. It is under the jurisdiction of our country, "- wrote the Ukrainian ombudsman on the Facebook page.

She added that she is in touch with the consul and keeps the situation under control.



Earlier that Kostenko was released, said "member of the public monitoring commission of the Kirov region Denis Shadrin, who met Kostenko.

Kostenko in February 2015 was kidnapped at the door of his house in the Crimea and taken to an unknown destination. Later he was accused of attacking an employee of "Berkut" during Euromaidan in Kiev, as well as in illegal possession of weapons. He was sentenced to 4 years in prison. Served a sentence in a penal colony in g.. Kirovo-Chepetsk (Kirov region, Russian Federation).
