DPRK Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un and South Korean President Mun Jain agreed on the formal end of the Korean War, which began in 1950 and continued in hot form until 1953. Peace agreement, according to the heads of the two states, will sign until the end of 2018.

The decision was made during the historic summit, during which the leader of North Korea first visited the territory of the neighboring country. At a press conference after the summit, Kim and Moon shook hands and embraced.

Since 1953, the DPRK and the Republic of Korea continued to be at war, and North Korea officially did not recognize the South as an independent country and considered it an occupied territory.

At the same time, the leadership of both these states recognized that the 38th parallel demarcation is not a boundary, but only an administrative line.

The reason for the war on the Korean peninsula was the conflict between the two political systems formed in the territory of the former Japanese province after World War II. The northern part of the once united Korea was under political control and the actual influence of the Soviet Union, and the southern part - under US control.
