The court for the election of a preventive measure against Maydanovsky Ivan Bubenchik, suspected of encroaching on the life of a law enforcement officer and illegal handling of weapons, was postponed to May 17, Ukrainian truth.
The corresponding decision on Friday announced the investigating judge of the Pechersk district court of Kiev Alexey Slkolov.
The meeting was postponed because of the lack of people's deputies who filed a petition for taking Bubenchik on bail (Parasyuk and Semenchenko).
The court asked protection of the activist to ensure the presence of deputies at the next meeting.
The prosecutor's office asked to apply to the suspect a measure of restraint in the form of round-the-clock house arrest with the wearing of an electronic bracelet.
According to the prosecution, Bubenchik can hide from the investigation and the court and destroy or corrupt the evidence.
At the same time, lawyers argued that the suspicion and risks were unfounded, the evidence was inadequate, the detention of Maidanov was illegal, and he was not properly notified of suspicion.
In particular, according to the defense, during the search the weapon was seized not from Bubenchik, but from another person.
The activist himself, commenting on his suspicion to the journalists, said that he does not understand "how to blame the defender of the people".
Answering the question whether he will wear an electronic bracelet in case the court satisfies the petition of the prosecutor's office, he argued that there will be no.
"The prosecutor's office does not serve the people of Ukraine at all today," said Bubenchik.
Earlier, on April 24 the court postponed the election of a preventive measure to Bubenchik in connection with the failure of the other two lawyers.
On April 5 Bubenchik and his defenders were presented with a new suspicion.
Now Bubenchik is suspected of committing crimes, stipulated by art.. 348 and h. 1 st. (Encroachment on the life of a law enforcement officer) 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives).
On April 17, the GPU filed a new petition with the court to select a preventive measure against activist Euromaydan Ivan Bubenchik.
