The Spanish king has traditionally congratulated all the Spaniards in various dialects - Castilian, Basque, Catalan and Galician. Philip also touched upon the problem of separatism in Catalonia and urged the new leadership of the region to stop deliberately splitting the country, but to engage in a constructive dialogue with Madrid. He also condemned the terrorist policies and violations of the Constitution by the past chapter of the Generalitet Puchdemon and his entourage. Earlier in Catalonia, parliamentary elections took place, where the majority of votes went to the loyal Madrid party "Citizens".
"Democratic unity, the strength of the rule of law and the effectiveness of international cooperation will help us," concludes Philip.
As reported in "URA-Inform", Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rahoy said that he is ready to cooperate with the new Catalan leadership.
