Document No. 5294 was supported by 237 people's deputies. As stated in the explanatory note to the law, he defines the organizational and legal basis for preventing and counteracting domestic violence, the main directions for implementing state policy in this area, aimed at protecting the rights and interests of victims of domestic violence.

However, the term "domestic violence" defines acts of physical, sexual, psychological or economic violence committed within the family, within the place of residence or between relatives, as well as between former or current spouses or between those who live together or lived in the same family, but did not have a relative relationship or in marriage with each other.

The law also defines a system of measures to counter domestic violence, which are carried out by executive authorities, local governments, enterprises, institutions and organizations, as well as Ukrainian citizens, foreigners and stateless persons.

Recall, as reported URA-Inform, on Wednesday the Verkhovna Rada introduced criminal liability for coercion to marry domestic violence. For the adoption of the whole bill number 4752 voted 241 deputies with the minimum required 226.
