According to the newspaper, the government police arrested from among government officials and mayors of cities who were preparing a referendum for the independence of Catalonia.

The vice-president of the country was detained.

Spain's Prime Minister Mariano Rahoy insists that Catalan parliamentarians sit down with Madrid at the negotiating table.

Catalonian leader Carles Puigdemon believes that the authorities actually declared a state of emergency when they began to monitor the finances in the region.

Previously, Spanish law enforcement officers seized 10 million ballots that were prepared for a referendum on October 1.

As reported in "URA-Inform", the Spanish military national police raided the headquarters of the Catalan government, less than two weeks before the proposed referendum on the independence of Catalonia.
