They may try to intervene in the upcoming elections. About this on Sunday, August 27, in an interview with Die Welt, said the director of the Federal Service for the Protection of the Constitution of Germany Hans-Georg Maasen.

According to him, there are fears that Russia can launch a campaign of disinformation. For this purpose, they can use cyber attacks.

At the same time, the head of the department noted, it is legally impossible to prove Russia's involvement in hacker attacks.

However, the intelligence agencies of Germany believe that this is very likely, since the intelligence activities of Russian special services in Germany are still intense.

At the same time, Maasen noted that, in his opinion, there is no evidence that interference in the elections to the Bundestag "is on the agenda of the Kremlin".

Recall, as reported URA-Inform, in early July, Russian President Vladimir Putin assured that Russia does not intend to interfere in the parliamentary elections in Germany, which will be held in September.
