President Vladimir Zelensky in his evening address said that he had held a number of consultations on the situation in the army, in particular, he talked with Defense Minister Mikhail Fedorov and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky.

“Yesterday and today there were many consultations. Of course I hear what people say. Today I had a long talk with Mikhail Fedorov. Today I also spoke with Alexander Syrsky. Decisions regarding the army will be made,” Zelensky said.

Almost simultaneously, ex-Minister of Defense Mikhail Fedorov published a post on Threads, in which he hinted at upcoming changes.

“There will definitely be changes.. You thanked me for “Mriya” and “Diya”. On a personal note, I thank you for the hope.. I didn’t feel such responsibility even in government positions. Thanks to the veterans and military for maintaining the front and honor. There is a dialogue. I believe that everything will work out,” he wrote.

The statements by the president and Fedorov came against the backdrop of protests that have continued in Ukraine for the third day. Their participants oppose the possible dismissal of Fedorov from the post of Minister of Defense.

They call on the authorities to leave Fedorov in office, emphasizing the need to continue the ongoing reforms and digitalization of the Ukrainian army.

The Financial Times reported that Zelensky is considering the option of dismissing Syrsky.

Fedorov’s resignation as part of the election of a new Cabinet of Ministers is not another personnel rotation, says Inna Vedernikova, editor of the internal policy department, in the article “The First Government of Arakhamia? Why is Bankovaya reconfiguring the levers of power?. She is sure that this is the result of his systemic conflict with the military leadership and the president’s office’s concerns about the emergence of an overly independent player.
