Suspension of pensions from April 1: how to resume payment

Ukrainians continue to receive pensions and other social payments. Some pensioners must undergo a physical identification procedure and report non-receipt of payments from the Russian Federation. The Main Directorate of the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU) in the Lugansk region told how to restore pensions to persons whose payments have been suspended since April 1, 2026.

Why were pension payments suspended on April 1?.

The PFU explained that, in accordance with the law, persons living in temporarily occupied territories (TOT) or who have traveled to territory controlled by Ukraine are paid pensions/insurance payments subject to non-receipt of a pension from the pension authorities of the Russian Federation. The person himself must confirm the fact of non-receipt of a pension from the Russian Federation.

“For those recipients who passed physical identification in 2025-2026, but as of February 1, 2026 did not submit a notification of non-receipt of a pension from the Russian Federation, payments were extended until April 1, 2026 (in accordance with Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 126),” the message says.

The Fund noted that if a notice of non-receipt of payment from Russia has not been submitted and pension payment has been suspended since April 1, 2026, then its renewal is possible on the basis of a pensioner’s application for the resumption of pension payment, which indicates information about non-receipt of payments from the Russian Federation (clause 14-4 of the Final Provisions of the Law “On Compulsory State Pension Insurance”).

“Payment of the pension will be resumed from the date of its suspension if the application for renewal, which indicates information about non-receipt of payments from the Russian Federation, is submitted before the end of the current year,” the message says..

The Fund explained that you can submit a corresponding application in the following ways:.

in person at the PFU service center;

through the PFU electronic services web portal using a remote qualified electronic signature " Signature\;

in videoconferencing mode in compliance with the requirements of legislation in the field of electronic trust services, during which identification documents are presented.
