Martial law: which Ukrainians can be involved in socially useful work

During the war unleashed by Russia, in Ukraine labor service may be introduced for able-bodied persons and they may be involved in performing socially useful work.

Specialists from the Eastern Interregional Department of the State Service of Ukraine on Labor Issues told us who can be involved in performing such work and under what conditions this is carried out.

In Ukraine, able-bodied persons are involved in socially useful work, including persons not subject to conscription for military service, who, due to age and state of health, have no restrictions on working under martial law (except for able-bodied persons involved in work in the defense sector and.

registered unemployed and other unemployed persons, including displaced persons;

employees of enterprises operating under martial law (in agreement with their managers) who were not involved in the implementation of mobilization tasks (orders) and were not enrolled in the civil protection units of the facility - in the order of transfer;

persons engaged in personal agriculture;

higher education students, students and students of vocational educational institutions;

persons who provide themselves with work independently.

Is an employment contract concluded when performing socially useful work?.

Derzhpratsi noted that a fixed-term employment contract is concluded with each person involved in the work.. They are subject to the requirements of legislation in the field of labor protection.
