Ukrainian teachers and scientists who left Ukraine due to full-scale Russian invasion will be able to save jobs. The Trade Union of Education and Science Workers of Ukraine gave an explanation.

If there is no connection with the employee, until the reasons and circumstances of his absence are clarified, the employer must retain his workplace and position. But the absence of an employee at work is not paid.

Good reasons for prohibiting the dismissal of an employee include the preservation of life. Including registration of temporary protection status in the EU.

Being abroad and working remotely, the employee will receive a salary. If there is no possibility to work remotely, and the employer needs someone who can perform the duties of an absent employee, to save your job, you can:.

take a vacation at your own expense;

take annual leave;

take social leave;

initiate the suspension of the employment contract.



Temporary protection is a special asylum mechanism in the EU countries that has been activated for Ukrainians fleeing the war.

The mechanism includes the right to housing, education, work (as opposed to obtaining refugee status, there is no need to wait six months), social security, medical care. But you can use these rights only after registering at the chosen place of residence in any EU country.

The status is established for a period of one year and can be extended for another two years; if the situation in Ukraine changes, its validity may be terminated.
