More and more consumers when buying TV prefer "smart" models with the ability to access the Internet and support applications. According to the research company GfK, about 59% of TVs purchased in the world (not counting North America) in the first half of 2017, had Smart TV functions. In the same period a year earlier, the penetration rate was at the level of 51%.

The first place in the introduction of "smart" TVs is in China, where 89% of purchased TV devices were classified as Smart TV. In Europe, the indicator is lower - at 56%, but in comparison with January-June 2016, the indicators increased by 10%, the study says.

Also, experts record the increase in costs for the purchase of televisions - in the period under review, consumers on average gave a new TV 448 euros instead of 431 euros a year ago. In GfK, the trend is connected with people's desire to acquire models with larger screens and a wide range of functions.

With this in mind, it is expected that in 2017 global TV sales in monetary terms will exceed 100 billion euros.

Another trend is the gradual growth in sales of Ultra HD / 4K and OLED TVs. According to GfK, in the first half of 2017 the share of UHD TV in the total volume of piece sales reached 29%. It is assumed that at the end of the year every third TV purchased will be classified in the 4K category. As for OLED TV, in January-June of 2017 they were sold 478 thousand pieces, 94% more than in 2016.
