Qualcomm at the Mobile World Congress in Shanghai demonstrated a smartphone with a built-in display scanner of fingerprints. The new sensor company allows you to shoot prints through the phone screen, running underwater and allows you to take devices out of sleep mode.

In Qualcomm say that the new fingerprint scanner is as fast as biometric modules on modern smartphones. In the publication Engadget tested the technology on the smartphone Vivo and came to the conclusion that the sensor still does not work as fast as I wanted.

"According to my feelings, the speed of fingerprint recognition is much lower than on modern smartphones. It takes about one second between touching the screen and the desktop. Also, it was somewhat disappointing that the scanning area was very small, "journalists noted..

At the same time, the new Qualcomm scanner can work even underwater, where capacitive sensors are useless.

In addition to the main function, the Qualcomm fingerprint has additional - it can record the heart rate and blood flow. Commercial Android smartphones with a built-in display of fingerprint scanners will appear on the market no earlier than the first half of next year. Thus, iPhone 8 can be the first mass-smartphone with this feature.

Demonstration of Qualcomm technology allows you to expect that Apple's new flagship will indeed get a built-in fingerprint scanner. Rumors about this chip last few months, but we have not received official confirmation.
