Greek archaeologists have discovered in the city of Salamis in Western Attica the well-preserved burial place of the Mycenaean period.

The tomb was discovered in the city center during works on connecting the house to the central sewerage system. According to the researchers, the find dates from the first half of the 13th - the second half of the 12th century BC.

The find was the third such grave found in the area - two others were discovered in 2009 also during excavation. The burial chamber is embossed in the rock, its dimensions are 2.6 meters by 2.9 meters, and the height is 1.5 meters.

In the tomb were found the skeletons of five people, 41 intact vessels with paintings, characteristic epoch, as well as shards of more than a dozen vessels. In such tombs for each new burial opened the entrance and the dead were buried next to the remains of the former.
