Analytical company Flashpoint found out that the most popular means of communication among hackers and other cybercriminals is Skype. They use it more often than other applications, including WhatsApp, Telegram and ICQ.
Skype dominates among English-speaking and Russian-speaking criminals - 62 and 38% of them mentioned this messenger. In 2012, Arab hackers also relied heavily on Skype, but now they correspond in ICQ and WhatsApp. ICQ is most popular among criminals who speak Russian, Spanish, French, Arabic and English.
Flashpoint notes that among hackers there are a lot of Russians and residents of the former CIS countries, and their preferences largely predetermined the popularity of instant messengers in the compiled rating. The most important factors in choosing a messenger are named ease of use, as well as confidence in security and anonymity.
