Napoli ex-mentor Antonio Conte may soon become the new head coach of the Italian national team. La Gazzetta dello Sport reports about this.

According to Gerela, the new president of the Italian Football Federation Giovanni Malago is considering the candidacy of a 56-member specialist as part of a long-term project.

It is expected that Conte will sign a contract with the team until the summer of 2030, for the cycle until the world championship, which will take place in Spain, Portugal and Morocco.

One of the key tasks of the coach is to form a competitive team before the upcoming World Cup.

Previously, Conte lost Napoli, who had fallen out of favor in 2024. Under his leadership, the team played 91 matches (54 wins, 19 draws and 18 defeats) and won two trophies - the Serie A championship (2024/25) and the Italian Super Cup (2025/26). Previously, Conte already played for the Italian national team from 2014–2016.
