According to AS, the reason for the crush was that the organizers of the match opened only one entrance to the stadium, which accommodates 23,000 spectators, and the fans were unable to take their seats on time.

Despite the fact that the tragedy was known even before the match began, the starting whistle sounded at the set time. Organizers managed even without a minute of silence ... The match ended with a score of 2: 2 and both teams after the second round top the standings in Group A, scoring four points each. Also in this quartet are Equatorial Guinea (3 points) and Sudan (0).
