Cologne's forward unexpectedly retired

Forward Cologne Artems Rudnevs for personal reasons terminated the contract with the club and announced the completion of his career.

Striker Cologne and the Latvian national team, Artems Rudnevs, decided to end his playing career at the age of 29.

As stated on the official website of the German club, Rudnies terminated the contract, which operated until 2019, for personal reasons.

"We went to a meeting with Artems. At present, he must fully devote himself to his personal life, "- said the managing director of the club Jorg Schmadtke.

"We respect his decision, and we will not comment further.

. We thank Artems for his contribution and wish him all the best in the future ".

Rudnevs moved to Cologne in the summer of 2016 from Hamburg and has since scored four goals and has given four assists in 22 games. In addition, he played for Hannover 96, Lech, Zalaegerszeg, Daugava and Ditton.

For the national team of Latvia Rudnies played 36 matches and scored two goals.

Earlier, Cologne signed striker Claudio Pissarro as a free agent.
