The teams of the English Premier League will be allowed to make five substitutions after the update of the season-2019/2020.
Substitutions can be carried out in three time slots, as well as in between halves. For the first time, such an initiative was put forward by FIFA to reduce the burden on players, but not to allow time delays.
Clubs also approved an increase in the maximum number of players on the bench from 7 to 9, according to the official website of the Premier League.
We add that similar rules were introduced before the end of the season in the Ukrainian Premier League, which on May 30 resumed the season with matches without spectators.
The English Premier League was interrupted in mid-March due to the COVID-19 pandemic; its restart will take place on June 17th with the Manchester City - Arsenal super match.
