The institution was opened in the framework of the events for the 85th anniversary of the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine, which took place in the Kharkiv region on November 24, the press service of HOGA reports.

Before the opening of the museum, flowers were laid at the Memorial complex to the victims of the Holodomor. The event was attended by the leadership of the region, representatives of the clergy and the public, ATO veterans and volunteers.

The Museum of the Memory of the Victims of the Holodomor became the first museum in Ukraine created in the territory of the united territorial community. The institution is located next to the memorial to the victims of the Holodomor.

"This date is a terrible event in the history of Ukraine, because the Kharkiv region was seriously preparing to honor the dead. Very painstaking work was carried out on the preparation, our experts have collected more than 60 authentic exhibits. Here you can see unique items, documents and photographs of those times, collected from the entire Kharkiv region, "- said the Deputy Chairman of the HOGA Anatoly Babichev.

According to him, the museum exposition tells about three waves of famines that unfolded on Ukrainian lands: 1921-1923. , 1932-1933. and 1946-1947.

During the opening of the exposition, the deputy head of the HOAH, Mikhail Chernyak, presented to the museum the second book "The National Book of Holodomor Victims in 1932-1933 in Ukraine. Kharkov region".

According to him, the museum’s exhibit included the belongings of people whose names were published in.

Recall, on November 24, Kharkiv region will also join the “Light a Candle” all-Ukrainian action. At 16:00 on the main square of Kharkov - Liberty Square - will traditionally lay out a cross of candles to honor the memory of the victims of famines in Ukraine.
