At the beginning of a full-scale invasion, Ukraine wanted to drag Poland into a war against the Russian Federation, and among the options was, in particular, the creation of a single state, said the leader of the opposition party “Law and Justice” Jaroslaw Kaczynski, known for his anti-Ukrainian rhetoric, writes Rzeczpospolita. He noted that Kyiv expected certain steps from Warsaw in 2022, which it could not take.. It’s not clear what we’re talking about.

“It seems to me that at first they had a somewhat strange concept - to drag us into this war, even on the basis of creating a single state,” Kaczynski said. “Zelensky’s speech in the Seimas was precisely in this direction.”.

He, however, did not provide any arguments in favor of this thesis.. The politician did not confirm the opinion that Kyiv was “inspired” by Poland’s membership in NATO, noting that this issue should be studied by historians. Kaczynski believes that in 2022 Ukraine could have mistakenly assessed the military capabilities of Poland - Warsaw did not have sufficient forces to participate in the war at that time.

At the start of the full-scale invasion, both Kaczynski and PiS supported Ukraine. The situation changed when they went into opposition to the new government in Warsaw, losing the elections in 2023. After this, the politician increasingly began to resort to harsh skeptical rhetoric regarding our state and disseminate controversial theses without citing a single source or evidence. For example, Kaczynski actively opposes Ukraine’s entry into the European Union, which he never tires of reminding.

He also recently “distinguished himself” by accusing Kyiv of allegedly allowing “black diggers” to carry out illegal excavations of former Polish settlements.
