In Ukraine, during the last week, during the period from April 16 to 22, the incidence of measles increased sharply - 1,070 people became ill, the Ministry of Health. This is the highest number of new cases recorded in the week since the onset of the measles outbreak.

The rapid increase in the incidence is due to group outbreaks in Volyn, Lviv, Zakarpatye, Chernigov, Kiev oblasts, as well as an increase in the number of adults who contract measles.

The operational headquarters of the Ministry of Health in response to the situation decided to expand the activities of enhanced immunization to all groups of children under the age of 18. Previously, intensive immunization activities were performed for children under 9 years.

Also in the Ministry of Health are studying the possibility of immunization of adults on epidemic indicators using a vaccine purchased for state budget funds.

In general, since the beginning of this year, measles in Ukraine fell ill 11.7 thousand people: 4564 adults and 7157 children. Of the complications caused by measles, eight people died, six of them - children.

The Ministry of Health noted that all areas are provided with vaccines - there are 255 thousand doses of vaccine.
