On May 1, Met Gala's main annual ball was held, timed to coincide with the opening of the exhibition of the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

For the long history of the New York Museum, this exhibition is the second time that the exposition was dedicated to one designer. The first time this happened in 1983, then the museum curator decided to arrange an exhibition-retrospective of Yves Saint Laurent. Now it's Ray Kawakubo.

At the Rei Kawakubo / Comme des Garcons: Art of the In-Between exhibition, about 120 Kawakubo works for Comme des Garcons were shown: from the first collection of the 1981 mark to the latest works.
