St. George's (Guards) ribbon to such an extent frightens the current Kiev authorities, that they have not invented anything wiser, how to start fighting against it at the legislative level. On Tuesday, May 16, the Verkhovna Rada banned the production and public use of Russian imperial symbols, which acquired a second life during the Great Patriotic War, and imposed administrative responsibility for this, the "Mirror of the Week".

Law No. 2987 "On Amendments to the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses on the Prohibition of the Manufacture and Propagation of St. George's (Guards) Ribbon" was voted by 238 deputies. 13 parliamentarians opposed the document, one abstained. 86 deputies did not take part in the voting.

Earlier today, the chairman of the Ukrainian parliament, Andrei Parubiy, stated that the Rada on Tuesday could impose a ban on the use of the St. George ribbon.

The initiator of this idea was the faction of the "Popular Front". "To a large extent, it was due to the latest events that occurred on May 9 in the Dnieper (decommunized name of Dnepropetrovsk) and other cities of Ukraine, which demonstrated that, unfortunately, certain symbols. Became a tool for manipulation from the Russian special services, from the fifth column of Ukraine and among them - the St. George Ribbon. This ribbon became a tool. For destabilization in Ukraine, "said Parubiy.

As the Ukrainian newspaper notes, now in Nezalezhny citizens will be fined for 850-2550 UAH (approximately from 1,800 to 5,400 rubles) for the demonstration of the tape during mass events, wearing on clothes, things, fastening on cars, images on posters, stickers, Postcards, as well as use in contemporary works of art and the media.

A repeated violation provides for a fine of 2,550-5,100 UAH (up to 10,800 rubles) or an administrative arrest for up to 15 days.

The explanatory note to the bill states that during the Second World War of 1939-1945 the tape "was used by Russian paramilitar organizations that supported Nazi Germany in the fight against the Soviet Union. In particular, she was present among the awards of fighters of the Russian Liberation Army (under the leadership of General Andrei Vlasov), the Committee for the Liberation of Peoples of Russia and Cossack Stan ".

And, of course, the authors of the document did not fail to note that now the tape has become in Ukraine "a symbol of Russian occupation and aggression".

Now it remains to be seen whether Ukrainian veterans will be able to wear medals "For victory over Germany", "For the capture of Berlin" and the Order of Glory, and how filmmakers and artists will be able to depict the events of the Second World without these awards.

Recall, on May 9, during the celebration of the Victory Day in Kiev, police detained two people who were trying to deploy a banner with St. George ribbons. In addition, some residents of the Ukrainian capital, as well as Dnepropetrovsk, Odessa and a number of other cities, went with them to the action of memory, triggering aggression on the part of nationalists and radicals.
