Virgil van Dijk could be released from Liverpool after the end of the season and become a free agent. According to Football Insider, the club does not plan to rush to a new position for the 35-year-old captain.
The Dutchman's current contract is valid until the summer of 2027. Van Dijk will be playing his tenth season at Enfield, but the club are already working on plans for the upcoming month without their rich leader.
Liverpool want to gradually rejuvenate the central line of defense and also view the young defenders as potential attackers for Van Dijk. Among the footballers for whom the club plans to provide insurance for the long term are called Jeremiah Jacquet and Giovanni Leoni.
At the moment there is no residual decision before a new contract. It was previously reported that Liverpool planned to evaluate Van Dijk's performance closer to the end of the season, after which they would decide on the next day.
