British promoter Eddie Hearn expressed his opinion on the fight in which WBC, WBA and IBF heavyweight title holder Alexander Usyk defeated kickboxer Rico Verhoeven.

The functionary believes that the fight was stopped too early, which left some unsaidness, and the Ukrainian boxer should immediately have a rematch with his opponent.

" If he had not stopped Verhoeven in the 11th round, then I think he would have taken the 12th and, perhaps, would have won on points. But I think the stop was premature, the gong has already sounded.

Honestly, it seems to me that Usyk might have stopped Verhoeven in the 12th round, but the ending of the fight was stolen from us. Rico deserved to see what he could do in the 12th round. I think he deserves a lot of respect. If I were Usik, I would have had an immediate rematch with Rico in the Netherlands and, perhaps, would have retired after winning.

I don’t think Usyk necessarily needs to fight Kabayel. Agit is a good fighter, but what does he have to prove It seems to me that the result of this fight serves as an excuse for Usik to have a rematch. And I think he can win this fight quite confidently.

I’m not discounting Rico because he’s a big and strong guy, but I think Usyk will be better next time,” Hearn said in a commentary to Fight Hub TV.

Let us remember that Verhoeven recently expressed confidence that the rematch with Usyk will surpass the first fight.

Also earlier, Verhoeven sharply criticized the referee after the fight.
