Before the trip to the Exclusion Zone last year, I found a marvelous story (I can not vouch for truthfulness, but there is a photo).

So, 1986, the city of Pripyat, built for workers of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. At one of the nine stories of Pripyat, on top of the building, a huge inscription was erected with the phrase "Hai will be an atom robber, not a soldier". Well installed and installed, damn with this Soviet aesthetics. Little did that where they installed in those years.

But here the end of April, the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, radiation, death and total piracy. The houses have the highest level of infection on the upper floors and especially on the roofs. On the roofs, it is advisable to bypass any metal structures (this was told to us at the briefing in the Exclusion Zone). That is, the roof plus the metal plus the radiation give in sum.

But this did not stop the unknown liquidators (and besides them, in Pripyat by 1987, almost no one became), who in this pizza dipped for the sake of a sense of humor. Some people climbed on the roof of the very nine-story building and broke off the metal letter "A" in the word "High", so that it turned out brilliant in its mystery and surrealism phrase:.

"X. YOU WILL BE ATOM ROBITNIK, NOT THE SOLDIER "That's what you want, and read. You want through "A", you want through "U" (the second, of course, is closer to the truth - it's proved to be an accident). Want to live, but you want a cue.

Again. Some people (or at least one person) climbed into the totally contaminated place, broke metal irons contaminated with radiation by the hands (which is not two minutes of work) - and all for the sake of a good, witty joke. Just a joke.

How much this joke cost their health - science is silent, but the phrase with a broken letter hung over the dead city for a long time (then it was broken definitively, and not so long ago it was completely restored).

They say that a sense of humor is the only thing that distinguishes a person from an animal. I can not agree more. An ambiguous joke in the deadly sea of ??radiation is very, very human.
