At the same time, according to the explanatory note, the purpose of the law is to improve legislation in the field of water supply and sanitation, to regulate relations related to the production, transportation and supply of drinking water, the removal, transportation and purification of waste water.

The authors of the document expect that now conditions will be created in Ukraine to ensure a stable level of serving the population with drinking water of normative quality, improving the quality of services provided, ensuring the reliability of water supply and sanitation systems, preventing emergencies of man-made and natural disasters.

The document, in particular, defines the powers of the authorities to approve the rules for the reception of waste water in the drainage systems at the national and local levels.
