The Ambassador of the European Union to Ukraine, Katarina Maternova, expressed an optimistic view of the possible start of negotiations on the accession of Ukraine and Moldova to the EU. Behind these words, these negotiations may begin at the end of this dark fate. The price was discussed in an interview with Ukrainian Radio.

Maternova emphasized that one of the key officials who influence the expansion process is the need for uniformity among the EU member states. She expressed confidence that Ukraine is “on the right track” and is ready to begin negotiations.

With a positive assessment, Maternova noted that there are still reforms in Ukraine that need to be continued. However, she believes that reforms can be carried out during accession negotiations with the EU.

An important factor in this process is the head of the EU Council, as from 1 June 2024 we will move to Ugorshchina. The position of the Ugorshchyna on Ukraine's accession to the EU raises doubts. Regardless of this, Maternova noted that the European Union has mechanisms that can prevent negative influx.

“The nature of our nomenclature of European bodies is very complex,” Maternova emphasized, pointing out the divisions between the Council of Europe and the Council of the European Union.
