US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield announced her support for the peace plan proposed by Italy to end the war between Russia and Ukraine, and immediately said that she had not read it. In response to a question, Linda Thomas-Greenfield said that she had not seen the Italian government's peace plan, but was aware of it and supported all efforts.

The Italian program was presented in New York on May 18 and proposes four to end the war: a ceasefire, eventual Ukrainian neutrality, regional issues (Crimea and Donbass) and a new European defense agreement.
