The US Treasury banned the citizens of the country from assisting Russia in projects related to oil production. This is reported on the agency's website.

It is stated that the Americans are prohibited from providing, exporting, re-exporting goods, services and technologies in order to assist in geological research or production of oil in deep waters on the Russian Arctic shelf. The ban on cooperation will affect individuals and legal entities in Russia who have already been or may be included in the US sanctions lists. Restrictions apply to projects starting on January 29, 2018 and later. The Ministry of Finance indicated that sanctions are imposed in connection with the conflict in Ukraine.
