Under the chairmanship of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine was held, at which further steps were considered aimed at resolving the situation that arose after the decisions of the Constitutional Court on anti-corruption legislation. The head of state stressed that it is necessary to strengthen responsibility for declaring false information and failure to submit a declaration by persons authorized to perform the functions of the state or local self-government.. This is precisely the purpose of the corresponding draft law on amending the Code of Administrative Offenses of Ukraine, the Criminal Code, the Criminal Procedure Code and other legislative acts to improve such responsibility, which was approved at a meeting of the NSDC and, after revision, will be introduced by the President to the Verkhovna Rada as an urgent one.. “Many of the people's deputies did not want the punishment in the form of imprisonment. Therefore, a compromise draft law was adopted. And now we are fixing the error. I agree that this bill needs to be finalized so that there are no disputes over certain norms, " Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov noted the importance of the law adopted by the parliament on the restoration of responsibility for inaccurate declaration. " Andriy Kostin, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Legal Policy, believes that the issue of criminal liability for inaccurate declaration should be resolved in exactly the way required by Ukrainian society. “Not only criminal liability should be restored, but also an appropriate punishment for the fact that a person did not declare any of his conditions and this was done intentionally and in a significant amount.

The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine supported the President's position on the restoration of such a type of punishment as imprisonment for failure to declare and for false information in electronic declarations of our officials, " The deputy also recalled that the Venice Commission adopted a conclusion, which recommends the Verkhovna Rada not only to restore criminal responsibility for lying in declarations, but to establish a punishment in the form of imprisonment.
