Russian producers and distributors of alcohol in early May were unable to ship their products due to a large-scale failure in the Unified State Automated Alcohol Accounting Information System (EGAIS), according to Russian media. And this is for the May holidays, which in the aggressor country are traditionally accompanied by the intake of alcoholic beverages.

EGAIS is the basis for accounting for the production and circulation of alcoholic beverages in Russia. It is used by all market participants who carry out their activities legally.. The failure of the system is likely due to a large-scale DDoS attack.

Attacks on the system began on May 2. Ladoga encountered this on May 3, Fort wine trading company faced it on May 4.

Due to a failure, factories could not accept tanks with alcohol, and stores and distributors could not receive finished products that had already been delivered to them.

The “team of cybersecurity enthusiasts” Disbalanser, which supports Ukraine, announced the involvement in the EGAIS failure. Announcements calling to attack the servers of the system were also published by the IT army of Ukraine.

Recall that from April 25 to May 1, the Ukrainian IT army attacked more than 190 Russian resources. Among them, in particular, the electronic reporting system.
